Jellyfin doesn't scan new folders

I use Jellyfin to manage my media. I have two libraries setup. I added a new folder to one of them, but Jellyfin didn’t show me the media items in that new folder. Running “Scan library” didn’t do anything either.

Turns out I didn’t misconfigure anything (always my first assumption) but instead it’s a bug.

It has been fixed in the master branch and presumably will be included in the next release.

In the meantime, one work-around is to “Scan All Libraries” after adding the new folder, apparently.

If you have decent-size libraries and puny hardware (like I do), re-scanning all libraries might seem daunting. Instead, I opted to create a new library (I named it “tmp-bug-7801”). Jellyfin picked-up the media in the new library just fine.

Once the bugfix has been shipped as part of a release, the plan is to delete this library and re-add the folder to the main library.
